Matthew Pelo

Photo of Matthew Pelo I grew up on a farm in Heber City Utah. As an 11 year boy I would wake up at 4:30am to play basketball and move sprinkler pipe for my neighbors. Although I was extremely fortunate to be mentored by many incredible individuals, being homeschooled in a family of 12 kids forced me to develop an education by more than just being present. If I wanted to learn anything I had to be the one to go find it, teach it, and understand it.

After understanding that education could benefit me in more than just school, I began to apply the same learning strategies to sports with great success. I played basketball at Wasatch high school, Snow College, and Dixie State University. I began developing IOS/Web application, managing small businesses, and applying everything I was able to absorb toward real life problems. I attained my Eagle Scout award, renovated apartments complexes, welded, landscaped, and served an LDS mission in New Zealand.

The capstone of my DSU education was that after several years of Udvar-Hazy College of Business, I dropped out to run the thriving business that i had started from within the walls of my Econ class. I found many great mentors, partners, and friends along the way and was able to see that business scale. After a short time, the company i had founded was acquired and i was placed as V.P of product. The Company today is doing over 10M in ARR and has over 3,000 businesses as clients.

I later returned to DSU and was honored to be nominated as the “innovation ambassador” for the small business department where i consulted with hundreds of local businesses and finished up my studies in Business Administration. Since graduating i have worked for American Logistics and Zonos (two local tech companies). I have found my passion for entrepreneurship can be satisfied by good teams, meaningful products and the St George sun.
